Our studio was commissioned to fabricate a large screen wall integrated into the main lobby of one of the towers at the Amazon HQ2 at Metropolitan Park in Arlington, VA. We collaborated extensively with ZGF Architects on the design and implementation of the screen wall. Text[ure] Screen functions as a graphic feature wall, corporate branding, and a security wall at the primary office entrance. The screen wall is composed of 3D printed ceramic blocks that were thought of as graphic pixels. Glazed in two shades of teal, the blocks generate the large scale message. The screen was composed of over 600 3D printed ceramic blocks, using four different block types with varying apertures. All the blocks were fabricated at our studio in Pittsburgh, using a unique process we pioneered over a decade ago.
